My Favorite Peanuts, the first of five rotating exhibitions organized by staff at the Charles M. Schulz Museumfeatures an engaging selection of approximately 60 original comic strips specially selected by Jean Schulz, the wife of Peanuts creator Charles Schulz. These strips reflect her favorite themes in Peanuts. The exhibition also includes personal gifts she has received from fans over the years. Also, as a side note, we wanna mention that Designer Chip Kidd will be designing the promotional material for this event.

Each of the rotating exhibitions offers a unique experience where visitors can view original comic strips, early works by Charles Schulz, vintage merchandise, and other valuable artifacts from the collection of the Charles M. Schulz Museum.

Snoopy Museum Tokyo’s museum store, named BROWN’S STORE, features products specially designed for the Museum.

Long time fans of both Charles M. Schulz and the PEANUTS Comic Strip should be pretty excited about this news. In Japan they have plans to dedicate an entire building to the art of “Sparky”! This, of course, is the special nickname of the Cartoonist, Charles M. Schulz.  This special place will be known as the SNOOPY MUSEUM TOKYO and it is opening on April 23, 2016 (architect’s rendering above).

This new museum came about because of  an exhibition of original Peanuts strips and other artifacts from the Charles M Schulz museum which opened in the Mori Gallery on October of 2013 (Photos from that event are posted down below, check out the Replica of Sparky’s real-life Art Studio) and ran through the holidays, closing in January. In those three months the exhibition drew 280,000 fans, demonstrating to the curators of the exhibition that there was a hunger for a world class exhibition of Peanuts art. In other words, Charlie Brown and his friends are loved on a global scale and this facilitated a new location in Japan!

As a Special Side Note:

We are both extremely happy and honored to mention that Chip Kidd will be designing the special catalog for the very 1st exhibition that will be curated by Sparky’s wife, Jean Schulz. The name of the show will be titled, “MY FAVORITE PEANUTS”. This is just 2 months away so please stay tuned to CHIPKIDD.COM for more info!

Another Side Note – Here is Chip Kidd’s Recent ART OF PEANUTS Book:

Here’s a quick post to share this fun photo taken by Chip at the recent 2015 New York Comic Con event. It appears that someone is a HUGE fan of Chip Kidd’s bestselling book, Bat-Manga: The Secret History of Batman in Japan (Pantheon). That book covered the stories and artwork of Jiro Kuwata’s version of the Dynamic Duo and this tattoo recreates the famous Japanese Comic Book logo art… AWESOME!

An extremely talented Artist & Friend sent us this wonderful photo recently showing a custom statue he created. His name is Deane Aikins and his work is AWESOME! Check out this “Lord Death Man” Statue he made from scratch! He writes a blog about his love of Batman, Collecting Comic Books and His Obsessions with Vintage Toys. It’s titled, WHEN BATMOBILES FLY. There, he did a write-up about making this statue so please be sure to check that out, LINK.

Now, for those of you unfamiliar with this character he is a long lost Batman Villain that was brought back to life (excuse the pun) by Chip Kidd’s book, “BAT-MANGA! The Secret History of Batman in Japan”. This book celebrated the 1960’s artwork of the Japanese Manga Artist, Jiro Kuwata.  Here is an example of his work and then below is the book cover for Chip’s book (Pantheon, Paperback version).

Oh yeah, we also gotta mention that Lord Death Man appeared in “animation form” in an episode of Cartoon Network’s BATMAN: THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD. Check it out!
