Here’s some very exciting comic book news! DC Comics has created a special TV Commercial for their brand-new set of 4 BEFORE WATCHMEN Graphic Novels (The covers of which were all designed by Chip Kidd!). The commercial, featuring artwork from the series, will begin airing on cable stations including IFC, TruTV and TNT this week.
Then, the BIG NEWS, it will be on the Jumbotron in New York City’s TIMES SQUARE starting July 16th. Fitting, when you consider that it was the location of the original series' climax!
Oh, and if you’re headed to San Diego, you can watch it in the DC Comics, DC Entertainment and Warner Bros booths. Oh yeah, before we forget, here’s the VIDEO… Check It Out!!
Here are the titles we’re talking about and they are available right now in hardcover, with two series collected in each deluxe edition:

The most talked about prequel miniseries in the comic industry, BEFORE THE WATCHMEN, are about to be collected in 4 deluxe hardcover editions. DC Comics just announced that the book covers will be designed by Chip Kidd and they have given them a release date of this summer.
Having previously designed a variant cover for BEFORE WATCHMEN: RORSCHACH issue #3, Chip Kidd was recently asked by DC Comics about what it means to him to design these historic covers. Here's what he had to say, “To design these covers is both a privilege and an honor. And a challenge! The ‘Before Watchmen’ creative team did a truly impressive job, and I will try to do justice to them. So to speak.”
Well, we can't wait to see them and we hope you're just as excited as we are. So stay tuned for their future reveal.
YES! Excellent! There’s a big buzz today over at the Los Angeles Times HERO COMPLEX Blog all about the new BEFORE WATCHMEN “Rorschach” No. 3 Variant Cover that was designed by Chip Kidd for DC Comics. The Reporter, Noelene Clark, got the scoop to present the exclusive 1st photo of the cover at the HERO COMPLEX website!!
For the few people who don’t know, DC Comics recently started publishing a fresh comic book series called BEFORE WATCHMEN that is sort of a “prequel” to the now-iconic WATCHMEN Graphic Novel Book that was originally published back in 1986-87. The new comics are being published with both a regular Standard Cover and a Variant Cover. Chip Kidd was asked to “do the Variant design” for the Rorschach character ( Issue #3 ) which comes out around November 21st, 2012.
Also, The new "Before Watchmen" series is written by Brian Azzarello, with art by Lee Bermejo. For more details, please visit the HERO COMPLEX site and, if you could, please “share or tweet” about it! Thanks.
