Here’s a wonderful video posted on YouTube of the Graphic Designer and Author, Chip Kidd, as he describes the process of designing a sinister book cover for a collection of Christmas essays during a talk at MacEwan University on January 22, 2014. (Thanks to everybody at MacEwan!)
Here’s some great book publishing news! Over at THE LITERARY OMNIVORE website they recently posted a wonderful book review for Neil Gaiman’s MAKE GOOD ART Speech Book (William Morrow). Now, why are we reporting this at Chip Kidd’s official website? Well, Chip Kidd totally art directed and designed this book. It was written by Neil Gaiman and it was based on an amazing Art School Commencement Speech he gave awhile back.

Here is a short, but very informative, video-taped excerpt from a recent lecture given by designer Chip Kidd on “THE PROCESS” of Graphic Design. As an example Chip shared the design process for the creation of a “book cover job” for an Augustus Burroughs book titled, “You Better Not Cry”. The short version of this story, it turns into a nightmare quickly.

OK, if you have ever been curious about what it’s like to hear a speaking engagement performed by Chip Kidd then you need to go read this very excellent article they just published at the BROWN DAILY HERALD. It was written by a Reporter named Zach Fredericks and he did a good job of making you feel like you attended the actual event. He shares a lot of fun information on a recent lecture Chip Kidd gave to some Brown and Rhode Island School of Design students who piled into the Martinos Auditorium in the Perry and Marty Granoff Center for the Creative Arts.
