Tokyo Toy Guy Batman Toys Movie Poster

Here is another video clip from the extremely amazing TOKYO TOY GUY Movie that was done by our good friend Yuji Ueda, who lives in Dubai. For the documentary film he made, Yuji went all over the world to meet some of the most serious BATMAN Toy Collectors and in this clip we get to see when he went to New York City to visit CHIP KIDD.

The video shows some extremely Rare BATMAN Toys, Collectibles, and Original Comic Book Artwork. Speaking about the art, we get a chance to see some of the Japanese BATMAN Manga art that was drawn by Jiro Kuwata. Most of it never seen before and still unpublished. This was the inspiration for Chip Kidd’s book, “Bat-Manga!: The Secret History of Batman in Japan” (Pantheon 2008).

Dave Taylor Comic Book Artist Batman Death By Design DC Comics

Marc Kleinhenz, a Writer/Reporter over at the Huffington Post BOOKS BLOG, has been writing a very excellent on-going article series titled “Creating the Bat”. Basically, he interviews many Artists and Writers who have worked on the Batman character over the years. In “Creating the Bat # 9″ he talked with the Comic Book creator Dave Taylor. Dave, as you should know, was the official artist for the Batman graphic Novel, Batman: Death By Design (DC Comics), which was written by Chip Kidd.

Marc threw some very though-provoking questions out at Dave Taylor and his answers are both insightful and clever. Seriously, it’s a great article! So, if you’re a fan of THE BAT-MAN then please check it out, just CLICK HERE!

Batman Death By Design Chip Kidd Book Bauwerke Des Todes German

Here’s some comic book publishing news that is way too cool NOT to mention. It looks like the Graphic Novel Book, BATMAN: DEATH BY DESIGN (DC Comics) has been translated into a “Foreign” German-Language version for the Germany book market. The only main difference I can see is that the title has been changed to “Bauwerke des Todes” which, when translated into English, means “Structures of Death” …cool!!

Design Matters with Debbie Millman Chip Kidd GO Graphic Design Book

Debbie Millman, the extremely brilliant and ultra-beautiful host of the DESIGN MATTERS podcast, that is a major part of the DESIGN OBSERVER website, recently interviewed Chip Kidd about many many things: His experience with his now popular TED Talk, what it was like to kiss Neil Gaiman on stage at the last San Diego Comic Con, his life-long appreciation of the comic book character BATMAN and much much more.

But, the main focus of the interview is the creation of Chip’s latest book, “GO! A Kidd’s Guide To Graphic Design” (Workman Publishing). Debbie asked some really great questions that were very thought-provoking and together they cover a ton of design-related topics.

About her, DEBBIE MILLMAN is the president of the design division at Sterling Brands. She is also President Emeritus of AIGA, a contributing editor to Print Magazine, and chair of the School of Visual Arts’ master’s program in Branding.
