This post is a special message intended mostly for Employees of Random House but the information is also extremely valuable to every person who reads this. We have all seen the news coverage of the horrific events that took place recently on the east coast of the United States, it was nicknamed “Hurricane Sandy”. Many people were deeply affected by this tragedy and we sincerely want to help. We also want those people to know that they are not forgotten & we do care. So, if you can volunteer your time or donate money then please help in any possible way that you can. Thank you. Down below is a copy of an in-house memo from Random House:
In light of this week's storm, many employees have expressed a desire to help.
Below are several organizations and their contact information. Each contain
comprehensive and current information regarding such initiatives: where to
donate blood, how to make cash donations, volunteering initiatives, and how to
donate supplies or services.
Please be sure to check directly with the organization you are interested in
helping since the need for blood donations and other types of assistance change
on a daily basis. Although there may not be an immediate need, help will be
needed in the weeks to come.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES -
As we head into the near future, here are some things you can do in your local area
to help with Sandy recovery efforts:
The Connecticut Red Cross is asking interested volunteers to email

email address. The Red Cross will then contact them with further information
about how they can help.
The NBC Connecticut Storm Relief Drive will be held on Sunday, November 4, from
9 a.m. to noon in the parking lot of IKEA in New Haven, at 450 Sargent Drive.
The United Way of Southeastern Connecticut is seeking donations of shelf-stable,
non-perishable food items, flashlights, batteries, bottled water, and clean

Volunteers in New Jersey are being coordinated through an emergency response

KIDS NEED TO READ is a national nonprofit foundation that promotes childhood literacy and addresses the crisis in library funding that currently exists in the United States. Providing inspiring books and literacy programs to schools, public libraries, juvenile offender facilities, dropout recovery programs, urban after-school organizations, and special education classes, the foundation works to develop a lifelong love of reading and an awareness of social responsibility in all children.
