Here’s some book news we’re pretty excited about! Over at the WINK! Book Lover Blog, they do super-excellent book reviews, a new book designed by Chip Kidd was recently reviewed. We’re talking about Haruki Murakami’s latest book, The Strange Library (Knopf).

Now, there are three really cool things about this review:
1. They talk about Haruki Murakami’s writing style and the complex story line.

2. They mention Chip Kidd as the Graphic Designer of the book, and…

3. The book review got syndicated on the BOING BOING website and traffic for this article has gone totally nuts!

So, thank you, thank you, thank you to Wink! and Boing Boing! You guys ROCK!!

Kit Reed, one of the fine reporters over at the MIAMI HERALD Newspaper Blog, recently wrote a really great book review for Haruki Murakami’s latest book titled, “The Strange Library” (Knopf).

OK, not to brag or anything, but we’re really happy about this review because they do mention that Chip Kidd designed it (both the cover and inside contents) and that almost never happens! Plus, Kit Reed did a super-excellent job at covering the ideas behind Murakami’s story concept.

ILLUSTRATING MURAKAMI – The New Yorker Magazine Book Review

Something pretty amazing recently happened over at THE NEW YORKER Magazine website. One of their reporters, Roland Kelts, published a story titled, “ILLUSTRATING MURAKAMI”. It covers the release of Haruki Murakami’s latest book, “The Strange Library” (Knopf).

But this is no ordinary book review. The thing we’re very excited about is that it’s main focus is the design of the book and they mention that it was designed by Chip Kidd. For those who don’t know, the book is illustrated inside with many photos and graphics and Mr. Kelts really seemed to enjoy that.

So, thank you to him, and the New Yorker, for the wonderful news coverage. We really appreciate that. We would also like to mention that this article got picked-up by many other blogs and book-related websites and it seems to be going crazy!

NPR BOOKS: Interview with “The Secret History of Wonder Woman” Author, Jill Lepore

Are you a fan of comic book history? Well, if you are, then you need to check out the latest book written by Jill Lepore titled, “The Secret History of Wonder Woman” (Knopf, in stores now). It not only covers the story of this iconic American comic book character but it also chronicles the life of her creator, William Moulton Marston. This guy was pretty amazing. Besides creating this enduring female superhero he is also responsible for inventing the Lie Detector. Yes, the “torture device” used by the FBI.

Oh yeah, did we mention that he also had a wife… and a mistress. He fathered children with both of them, and they all secretly lived together in Rye, N.Y. This was in a time when this sort of thing was unheard of. Jill Lepore does an excellent job covering his life in all it’s glorious details. I also guess that we should mention that the book cover was designed by Chip Kidd, ha!

The NPR BOOKS PODCAST recently interviewed Jill Lepore about this book and you can hear it, in it’s entirety, right here:

Also, maybe after you listen to the podcast, you might wanna check out their website for the actual book review, it’s pretty good too, just CLICK HERE!
