Just a quick post to share this fun photo from a friend who saw Chip Kidd’s design work at a Hastings Book Store location! As mentioned here, Chip designed a special set of “Variant” book covers for the CONVERGENCE Story line that is affecting all the superhero characters in the DC Comics universe.
All the books published had two covers, one done with the regular cover, and another printing with Chip’s design. These “Variant” covers featured the characterin a magnified view with a “color shadow” bleeding off the edge. Each week (for 4 weeks, this promo ran a whole month) the colors changed from Cyan (Blue), Fushia (Hot Pink), Bright Yellow, and then to Black.
In this photo we see some of the Cyan Blue ones from the very first week…. so cool!
