Are you a fan of comic book history? Well, if you are, then you need to check out the latest book written by Jill Lepore titled, “The Secret History of Wonder Woman” (Knopf, in stores now). It not only covers the story of this iconic American comic book character but it also chronicles the life of her creator, William Moulton Marston. This guy was pretty amazing. Besides creating this enduring female superhero he is also responsible for inventing the Lie Detector. Yes, the “torture device” used by the FBI.

Oh yeah, did we mention that he also had a wife… and a mistress. He fathered children with both of them, and they all secretly lived together in Rye, N.Y. This was in a time when this sort of thing was unheard of. Jill Lepore does an excellent job covering his life in all it’s glorious details. I also guess that we should mention that the book cover was designed by Chip Kidd, ha!

The NPR BOOKS PODCAST recently interviewed Jill Lepore about this book and you can hear it, in it’s entirety, right here:

Also, maybe after you listen to the podcast, you might wanna check out their website for the actual book review, it’s pretty good too, just CLICK HERE!
